Hill, Glenbard East rout Grayslake Central
Glenbard East enjoyed a successful debut at the State Farm Holiday Classic at Normal West, beating Grayslake Central 74-59.
A 22-point second quarter helped the Rams pull away. Glenbard East (9-0) got 32 points from Johnny Hill and 10 points from Steve Kinney. The Rams play Mahomet-Seymour, a 66-62 winner over North Chicago, at 9 p.m. Tuesday.
Downers Grove South 64, Glenbard South 29:
At the 37th Jack Tosh Holiday Classic at York, second-seeded Downers South (8-3) led 16-8 after the first quarter and Glenbard South (3-5) never came closer. Jerron Wilbut scored 12 points and Ziggy Riauka added 10 points for Downers South. Dusko Despot scored 11 for Glenbard South.
St. Ignatius 39, St. Francis 38:
St. Ignatius overcame a 13-6 deficit after a quarter to reach the winner’s bracket at York. Mike Scholl and Eric Stout scored 15 and 12 points, respectively, for St. Francis (3-5).
Brother Rice 63, Naperville North 51:
Also at York, Brother Rice outscored the Huskies 23-9 in the second quarter. Naperville North (3-6) was led by Jovonn Griffin’s 18 points.
Riverside-Brookfield 69, WW South 48:
Jason Schuman led the Tigers with 13 points and 5 rebounds as WW South fell to 4-5. Ryan Jackson scored 33 points for Riverside-Brookfield.
Proviso East 63, Hinsdale Central 62:
At Proviso West, Sterling Brown’s putback in the closing seconds of overtime lifted Proviso East to victory over the Red Devils (3-6). Proviso East (6-1) rallied from a 13-point deficit in the third quarter. Tom Garvin scored 23 points to lead Hinsdale Central, followed by Brad Anlauf with 17 points and Mike Ostojic with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Raby 59, Lisle 42:
At the 33rd Lemont Christmas Classic, Raby outrebounded Lisle 41-22, and led 26-16 at halftime. Chris Wray and Kazim Khan each scored 11 points for Lisle (3-7).
Sandburg 49, Downers Grove North 35:
Sandburg (4-5) held Downers North to 28 percent shooting in the Trojans’ first-round loss at Lemont. Tom Wengren scored 9 points for Downers North (5-6).
