Elk Grove Historical Museum wins award

The Elk Grove Historical Museum was recently acknowledged with an Award of Excellence from the Illinois Association of Museums on Nov. 4. The award was presented for the museum's temporary exhibition, “From Recipe to Formula: The Tasty Tale of Elk Grove's Jarosch Bakery” which was on display from March to August.

The Award of Excellence is presented to those projects that exhibit high quality work that is also creative and meets professional standards. They are also given to those institutions that demonstrate they are capable of using available resources wisely.

The awards committee indicated it was duly impressed with the exhibit design and the attention given to supplemental educational programming. Over 1,800 individuals viewed the exhibition and participated in related programming and activities.

This is the third temporary exhibition to receive an award from the Illinois Association of Museums. The museum is currently working on a new medical exhibit, “The Doctor is In,” which will open in March.
