Avon Twp. crash victims recovering

The survivors of a fatal Avon Township auto accident are recovering, authorities said Tuesday.

One man, 26-year-old Calvin Jackson Sr. of Lake Villa, died in the crash at Rollins Road and Route 45. Jackson's sons, 3-year-old Calvin Jr. and 2-year-old Clarence, were flown to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital Monday and were listed in stable condition, Lake County sheriff's police said.

All were passengers in a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by 18-year-old Houston Neil, police said. He is at Advocate Condell Medical Center and no longer is in intensive care, police said.

Another passenger, 17-year-old Laquaysha Johnson, was in stable condition at Condell, police said.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 2008 Lincoln Navigator, was not hurt, nor was a young passenger, police said.

The accident occurred when the Navigator went through a red light and struck the Jeep, police said.
