One-car crash in Wauconda kills Wisconsin man

A Wisconsin man died early Sunday morning in a one-car crash in Wauconda.

Wauconda police identified the driver as 53-year-old Michael E. Jungles of Camp Lake, Wis.

Wauconda police and the Wauconda Fire District responded at 3:31 a.m. to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Route 12 just south of Case Road in Wauconda.

Police said a preliminary investigation revealed that the car, a 2002 Kia four-door sedan, was heading north on Route 12 when, for reasons unknown, the vehicle left the road and traveled down the snow-covered shoulder and embankment before finally landing upside down on the east side of the road.

The driver was taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, where he died from his injuries shortly after.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by the Wauconda police with assistance from the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team.

Lake County Coroner Dr. Richard Keller said Jungles died from multiple injuries. An autopsy will be performed Monday, he said.
