Scouting report: The Knights play 11 games in the first 14 grueling days of this season, and for a new coach at that. “We’re going to learn a lot about ourselves very quickly,” first-year coach Lawrence said. After playing this week at the Somonauk Tournament, the Knights host their own tournament next week. And some of the players got a late start in practice because IC’s volleyball season ran long. “It’s going to be a good test of our character and durability,” Lawrence said. “When it comes down to it, it’s only going to make us better for the playoffs.” Fortunately, the Knights are picking up Lawrence’s system quickly. “I could not be happier,” she said. Lawrence plans a motion offense. The key is getting the players comfortable enough that they stop thinking about what they’re supposed to do and just start doing it.
