Scouting Glenbard North girls basketball

Glenbard North

Coach: John Chamberlain.

Last year: 5-23, 2-12, seventh in the DuPage Valley Conference; lost in round of postseason.

Top players: Brianna Harn, jr, G; Carson Jones, sr., F; Cheryl Smith, sr., C; Amy Falson so., G; Jackie Jacobs, sr. G; Teddi Govedarica, so, F; Katie Wisniewski, so, C.

Scouting report: Chamberlain is willing to be patient, if only because he believes his patience will be rewarded. “It’s not fun when you’re doing the growing pains and wondering if it’s ever going to turn around, but I definitely feel the turnaround,” he said. He’s hoping to build confidence in his players, with the idea that wins will follow. To help with the confidence, “We need to get some wins early,” he added. But the Panthers also will have to figure out how to replace all-DVC player Amoni Reynolds and her 16.6 points and 6.1 rebounds a game. They’ll try to do it with a team effort. Smith and Wisniewski are both more than 6-feet tall. “If I put them out there in a tandem we’ll do better on the boards than last year,” Chamberlain said. They could also form the base of a zone defense that would force offenses to shoot over the top.
