Geneva Veterans Day ceremony at North middle school

Geneva Middle Schools North and South will conduct their 14th annual Veterans Day Ceremony at 7:30 a.m. Thursday.

The ceremony is in the cafeteria at North, 1357 Viking Drive, and the public is invited.

A combined choir will sing “America the Beautiful” and “God Bless America.” The North eighth-grade band will play the military service songs. Social Studies Club members will present the national and military flags, speak, and pass out certificates of appreciation to veterans in the audience.

The keynote speaker is Capt. Van Stone, a Vietnam War veteran who was awarded a Silver Star, three Bronze Stars and three Purple Hearts.

After the ceremony, select veterans will speak to students in the team centers of both middle schools.
