Mt. Prospect man charged with drug possession

A Cook County Circuit Court Judge set bond at $50,000 Tuesday for a 51-year-old Mount Prospect man who police say had 56 grams of cocaine in his possession.

Arlington Heights police charged Peter Borysiewicz, of the 2100 block of West Haven Street, with possession with intent to deliver, a class X felony punishable by from six to 30 years in prison.

Acting on information they received, police went to Borysiewicz's place of business in the 700 block of West Algonquin Road on Oct. 10, prosecutors said. The defendant admitted having cocaine and led police to it, prosecutors said.

Borysiewicz was arrested Tuesday. Asked why nearly a month elapsed between the time officers first talked to the defendant and the filing of charges, a police department representative speaking about general police procedure and not about this specific case said that it frequently takes time for officers to investigate an alleged crime and compile evidence. That is normal police procedure, he said.

Borysiewicz next appears in court on Dec. 8.
