Blackhawks recall Morin from Rockford

The Blackhawks have recalled forward Jeremy Morin from the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs.

Morin, 19, leads Rockford with three power-play goals and has registered four points (3G, A) and a +1 plus/minus rating in eight regular-season contests with the IceHogs this year in his professional debut. He tied for second on the Blackhawks with four points (G, 3A) in six tilts during the 2010 preseason.

Originally acquired in a trade with the Atlanta Thrashers on June 24, 2010, Morin tied for fourth in the Ontario Hockey League with 47 goals and ranked 12th with 83 points in 58 regular-season games in his rookie season with the Kitchener Rangers during the 2009-10 campaign.

Atlanta's second pick, 45th overall, in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Morin also ranked second on the Rangers with 12 goals and fourth with 21 points in 20 playoff tilts, helping the club reach the Western Conference Finals.

The Auburn, New York, native captured a Gold Medal with Team USA at the 2010 World Junior Championships, collecting five assists and seven points in seven games during the tournament.

Prior to making his OHL debut with Kitchener last year, Morin spent three seasons with the United States National Team Development Program (2007-2009), posting 139 points (81G, 58A) in 120 career games.

The Blackhawks will visit the Atlanta Thrashers at Philips Arena on Saturday at 6 p.m. The game can be seen locally on WGN Channel 9 and can be heard on News 720 WGN.
