Renovated Lou Malnati's reopens in Schaumburg

Lou Malnati's Pizzeria held a grand reopening of its Schaumburg location at the southeast corner of Schaumburg and Roselle roads in the heart of the village to mark completion of a major renovation.

The popular eatery remained open throughout the work, which has been ongoing since the spring.

While the project did not significantly increase the capacity of the restaurant, it made its space more practical and user-friendly by providing separate waiting areas for carryout and dine-in customers, a new kitchen and two handicapped-accessible restrooms on the first floor.

The renovation was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and pizza-making contest among village officials late last week.

The project occurred in conjunction with Schaumburg's renovation of the public parking lot behind the restaurant and included a land swap between Lou Malnati's and the village.

The vacant furniture store at 9 Roselle Road was demolished to make room for the restaurant's expansion while the village received the historic Turret House which had previously been owned by Lou Malnati's.

The pizzeria has occupied the corner of Schaumburg's most historic intersection since 1985.
