State doesn't rule on 54th District claim

The Illinois State Board of Elections did not rule Friday whether an ethics complaint filed against Tom Morrison, Republican candidate for the 54th District state House seat, should move on to a public hearing.

Instead, the board ordered a second closed preliminary hearing on Nov. 10.

The complaint, alleging that Morrison's campaign filed campaign disclosure records that gave false dates for some donations, was filed by Nancy Shepherdson, a supporter of Morrison's Democratic opponent Matt Flamm.

Morrison this month fired his campaign treasurer in the wake of the allegations.
