State cross country goes to Cooper Middle School

The boys team from Cooper Middle School in Buffalo Grove took first place in the AA state Cross Country meet Saturday, Oct. 16, in Normal, beating out 26 teams that had survived sectional meets.

The boys team from the Buffalo Grove Elementary District 21 school was very well balanced and scored 77 points, putting it well ahead of the second-place 150 points.

Kevin Salvano placed 10th; Tom Cleary 18th; Eli Hinkle 23rd; Tripp Wallner 27th; Montana Nimerfroh 31st; Alex Franz 35th and Ryan Egelston 82nd. The alternates were Ryan Deutsch, Jake Harris and John Krzeszowski.

The girls team placed 19th with Caroline Zaworski finishing 12th. The coaches are Tim Thiessen and Stacey Konieczka.

The individual boys champion is David Rodriguez from River Trails Middle School in Mount Prospect, part of River Trails Elementary District 26.

Mount Prospect Lincoln School's girls team finished third, and the boys team seventh. Alexis Jakubowski finished fourth among girls, and Greg Suarez came in fourth among boys for the Elementary District 57 school.
