Harper, Grand Rapids football meet in Twin Bowl

Saturday's gridiron matchup between Harper College and Grand Rapids Community College will have more than just a football rivalry at stake.

The matchup features colleges presided over by identical twin brothers Kenneth and Steven Ender – who took over as presidents of Harper and Grand Rapids, respectively, in 2009. The game, which has been dubbed the “Twin Bowl,” kicks off at 1 p.m. on Harper's field, 1200 W. Algonquin Road in Palatine.

The two brothers will be on the field together for a twin coin toss and the winning team will claim the Twin Bowl trophy: identical football players perched atop a loving cup.

Admission to the game and a pregame reception is free. The reception begins at 11 a.m. outside the Building A main entrance and will feature giveaways, music from Harper's on-campus radio station, the college's Pom and Dance Team, face painting and an alumni tent. All are welcome, but local twins in particular are invited to participate in special activities, including an on-field halftime photograph with the presidents and the Twin Bowl trophy. Twins interested in attending should RSVP to Fredia Martin, Community Relations Specialist, 847.925.6701 or fmartin1@harpercollege.edu.
