Scouting Burlington Central at North Boone

Burlington Central (2-5, 2-1) at North Boone (3-4, 1-2)

When: today at 7 p.m.

Last year: Burlington Central 20, North Boone 12

Last week: Marengo 24, North Boone 21; Burlington Central 33, Harvard 24

Outlook: The second-place Rockets go for their third straight win in a Big Northern East contest in Poplar Grove. The Central defense will face a potent spread offense, led by sophomore quarterback Austin Baden. Since taking over for the injured Alex Albrecht earlier this season, Baden has completed 58 percent of his passes for over 1,300 yards and 13 touchdowns. He has also rushed for over 300 yards and 5 touchdowns. “He's pretty good, Rockets coach Aaron Wichman said. “He's not real big (5-8, 160), but he can definitely throw the ball. His biggest asset is his maneuverability; He's hard to tackle. When plays break down he can make plays on his own. Last week, the Rockets rushed for big yardage, led by senior offensive linemen Dominick LoPiccolo, Thomas Juns and Brent Sunderlage. They, along with juniors Logan McFarlane, Paxton Cessaroni and senior tight end/tackle Mark Taylor, continue to open holes for senior running backs Brandon Westergaard (587 yards, 5 TD) and Tre Llanes (531 yards, 6 TD). Burlington Central is 4-0 against the Vikings since North Boone joined the BNE in 2006.
