White Sox' best and worst

The White Sox finished the 2010 season with an 88-74 record, good for second place in the AL Central. Here's a look at their bests and worsts this season:

BestsAged to perfection: At 34, Paul Konerko had the best year of his career, batting .312 with 39 home runs, 111 RBI, a .393 on-base percentage and a .977 OPS. Headed for free agency, is it any wonder Konerko is expected to command a three-year contract for $45 million?Kid stuff: Fresh out of college, left-hander Chris Sale joined the Sox' bullpen in early August and went 2-1 with 4 saves and a 1.93 ERA. The 32 strikeouts in 23 1/3 innings left Sale being compared to Randy Johnson.Doing it all: Not only did he lead AL shortstops with a .282 batting average and 18 home runs, Alexei Ramirez had the best UZR rating and is positioned to win his first Gold Glove.WorstsMiss you Big Jim: The Sox used 12 different designated hitters and they batted a combined .247 with 18 home runs and 65 RBI.Closed out: Bobby Jenks is going to be wearing a new uniform in 2011 after going 1-3 with a 4.44 ERA while struggling through another injury-prone season.Waste of money: Yes, it was a good thought at the time, but Manny Ramirez was a huge bust after joining the White Sox on Sept. 1 and hitting 1 HR and driving in 2 runs.
