Prison time for drug deal near Schaumburg school

Along with eight-year prison sentences for selling heroin within 1,000 feet of a school, Lionel James, 34, and Antoine Lovelace, 31, got a chance at rehabilitation.

Cook County Circuit Court Judge Thomas Fecarotta recommended James, of the 200 block of Wapoos Court in Schaumburg, and Lovelace, of the 800 block of Sumac Street in Streamwood, for the Illinois Department of Corrections' drug rehabilitation program.

Their arrests followed a two-month undercover investigation by Schaumburg police of James, who they say lived near Schaumburg High School and Enders-Salk Elementary School. Officers recovered about 20 grams of heroin and 12 grams of cannabis with a combined street value of $7,000.

Both men received credit for 124 days and were ordered to pay $3,755 in fines.
