• A 69-year-old homeless woman was punched in the head and sustained a cut after she refused to give her tuna sandwich to a man who asked for it while she was sitting on a bench at 3:34 p.m. Wednesday at the southwest corner of Grove Avenue and Douglas Street, reports said. No immediate arrests were made.

• Jasmine James, 21, of the 200 block of Center Street, Elgin, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor assault at 5:35 p.m. Wednesday, reports said. She is accused of threatening a woman with a knife at Kimball and Spring streets and is due in court on Oct. 22, reports said. No injuries were reported, reports said.

• Reina M. Trujillo, 20, of the 2400 block MacArthur Drive, McHenry, and Nichole M. Lafata, 21, of the 100 block of Gregory M. Sears Drive, Gilberts, were arrested and charged with marijuana possession at 12:45 a.m. Thursday at Lavoie and Dixon avenues, reports said. Officers noticed a suspicious vehicle with people inside and its lights off and found 0.8 grams of pot in the car, reports said. They are due in court on Oct. 25, reports said.

• Someone stole $555 in coins and some clothing from an apartment in the 300 block of McClure Avenue between noon and 1 p.m. Wednesday, reports said.

• Jasper Young, 39, of the 100 block of South State Street, Elgin, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana at 1:10 p.m. Thursday after police were called to the 100 block of South State Street for a complaint of two men smoking pot on the corner, reports said. Young is due in court on Oct. 22.
