Rachel's challenge returns to Wheeling High School

On April 20, 1999, the events at Columbine High School brought issues of school climate and safety to the forefront of America's education system. these same issues continue to this day.

Rachel Joy Scott was one of the students killed at Columbine. Her acts of kindness and compassion coupled with the contents of her six diaries have become the foundation for one of the most life-changing school programs in America. Rachel's Challenge is a program that inspires, instructs and enables students to bring positive change to their school atmosphere.

Wheeling High School is excited to bring back Rachel's Challenge to the community, and hopes the program will positively impact the social and emotional well-being of students, and challenge them to act with compassion and kindness as Rachel modeled for her peers during her life.

A presentation of Rachel's Challenge will be held 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, at Wheeling High School for parents and students in District 214. Questions? Call Mark Menich at (847) 718-7127) or Andrea Mugler, (847) 718-7131.
