Prospect Homecoming Week goes glam

Prospect High School will celebrate its 2010 Homecoming, "Lights! Camera! Action!," Oct. 4-9, with activities for the student body, staff and alumni.

Prospect's Student Council has planned events, lunch games and dress-up days each day to add to the festive Homecoming atmosphere.

Pre-Homecoming Week activities begin with a banner and T-shirt painting party 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sept. 28 in the cafeteria. Hall decorating will take place on Oct. 3. Each hall in the school will be decorated by class. Decorating for the Coronation assembly will be held the same day.

Prospect's Distinguished Alumni for 2010-2011, Dr. Nancy Floros Rajanen (Class of 1973); a representative of the first posthumous honoree, the late Douglas Dean Vaughn (Class of 1962); and Dr. Gary Motykie (Class of 1989) will be honored during Homecoming festivities and will spend time in classrooms, offering encouragement and inspiration to current students.

Monday, Oct. 4, is "Dress for the Oscars Day," when students can show up wearing their favorite "red carpet" look. The king and queen will be crowned during the coronation assembly and the distinguished alumni will be honored at a reception in the library at 3 p.m.

Tuesday is designated as "Lazy Day," and "Senior Toga Day," and karaoke will be the lunchtime activity.

Wednesday is "Class Color Day," with the following colors worn by the four classes: red, freshmen; green, sophomores; yellow, juniors; and orange, seniors. Staff will wear blue and parents, black.

The popular annual Knightgames will take place from 6-7:30 p.m. in the field house, an event involving teams from all four classes, as well as staff and parents. All are welcome to attend. A bonfire/dance will follow in the stadium from 7:30-9:30 p.m.

Thursday is "Favorite Decade Day," and a student band will perform during lunchtimes.

Friday is "Big Blue Friday" when students wear school colors and spirit wear. There will be a pep assembly at 2:23 p.m. and a parade, stepping off at Prospect Meadows Park at 4 p.m. The Homecoming football game against Buffalo Grove High School will begin at 7:30 p.m.

The Knightimes 2010 Homecoming Dance, held in the field house, will conclude the week's activities on Saturday, Oct. 9, from 8-11 p.m.
