Bands to perform:Woodland Elementary District 50's Middle School Marching Wildcats band will join forces with the Warren Township High School Marching Blue Devils and the Viking Middle School band to perform Wednesday. The event is set for 7 p.m. at the Warren Township High School O'Plaine campus stadium, 500 N. O'Plaine Road, Gurnee. Admission is free, but students are asking for cash donations for charities.Blood drive set:Millburn Congregational United Church of Christ is hosting a blood drive on Sunday. It will run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church, which is at Route 45 and Grass Lake Road. Donors must be at least 16 and bring identification. Appointments are being taken to assure fast and efficient donations. Recent changes to Illinois voting law now permits any registered voter to receive a ballot by mail without needing a reason to qualify. Lake County registered voters can request a one-time ballot for November's election or enroll in the permanent voting by mail program. Once enrolled in the permanent program, voters will automatically receive a ballot for every election specified at the address provided. Voters will remain in the program until the clerk's office receives notification to inactivate. Before each primary election, each voter will be contacted for party ballot preference. Ballot requests can be made for the Nov. 2 election via email to VotingByMail@lakecountyil.gov or by calling or by calling (847) 377-2406. Ballots cannot be mailed to voters after Oct. 28.Prostrate screening:Advocate Condell Medical Center will offer a free prostate cancer screening from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22 at the center, 801 S. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville. The screening is recommended for men age 50 and older, but men who are African American or have a family history of prostate cancer should begin testing at age 40. Participants must provide the name and address of a physician who should receive the blood test results.
