AMA co-convenes meeting on improving doctor training

The American Medical Association is co-convening a national conference on medical education. The idea is to make sure doctor training keeps up with changes in the nation's health care system.

Former AMA President James Rohack says the conference will help the medical community create a roadmap for educating future generations of doctors.

The Association of American Medical Colleges is participating in the meeting, which runs Monday through Wednesday in Washington.

Topics include how to attract more doctors to primary care and working in undeserved areas. Getting new doctors up to speed with electronic prescribing and changes in the insurance landscape also will be discussed.
