Thornton feeling 'good'

After playing long toss on Friday and Saturday, injured relief pitcher Matt Thornton (left elbow inflammation) played some light catch Sunday.

"I was getting after it pretty good (Saturday), and everything feels good," Thornton said. "No problems at all."

Thornton said he should be ready to come off the disabled list on time Thursday and be ready Friday, when the White Sox open a three-game series at Boston.

Early exit: Manager Ozzie Guillen received a quick ejection from Bob Davidson for arguing a close play at first base in the ninth inning.

"I was tired all weekend about seeing that," Guillen said. "No matter what you say about them, they always have the right and the power to get you. I'm not going to waste my time talking about them, I'm not going to waste my time going out there and arguing because you're not going to win."

No relief: The Sox could use some help in the bullpen, but general manager Kenny Williams has said the asking price for quality relievers is sky high, and he doesn't want to claim subpar arms off waivers just to look busy.

The Minnesota Twins might have been guilty of that the past few days, claiming Tony Flores from the Colorado Rockies and Brian Fuentes from the Los Angeles Angels.

"Picking up a reliever just to pick up a reliever is not worth it," manager Ozzie Guillen said. "Nobody is going to give up a reliever just to help you."
