Watch foreign flicks at CLCFour international films are lined up for a special series on Friday nights during fall semester at College of Lake County. The flicks will be shown free at the school's Center for International Education. The films are subtitled when necessary, have adult content and are not suitable for children. The fall films are "Duck Season" on Sept. 10, "Revanche" on Oct. 8, "The Pool" on Nov. 5 and "Mother" on Dec. 3. The films will be screened at 7 p.m. in the Anderson lecture hall, room A162, 19351 W. Washington St., Grayslake.Resurfacing in Vernon HillsResurfacing Deerpath Drive from Marimac Drive to Atrium Drive in Vernon Hills will begin Tuesday, Sept. 7 and last through Oct. 9. Work includes grinding and replacing the asphalt surface, some curb and gutter repairs and other improvements. On-street parking will be prohibited during the project, which is being funded through the American Recovery Act. Admission is free, but registration is required. The preserve entrance is on Blanchard Road, just west of Sheridan Road. Visit lcfpd.org or call (847) 968-3321.Cougar youth sports meetingA special combined meeting of the Vernon Hills village board and the Vernon Hills Park District is scheduled for 7 p.m. Aug. 31 at the village hall, 290 Evergreen Drive. The community meeting involves youth sports in the village and district and is expected to include representatives of the Vernon Hills Cougar Youth Athletic Association, which runs softball, football and soccer programs. The group's activities and operations have been questioned recently at public meetings. The park district also has had issues, as it has never received a signed agreement from the Cougars and the group has proposed to run programs in competition with the district.Auditions for 'La Pastorela'Auditions for "La Pastorela" will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Sept. 7 and 8 at the Round Lake Beach Cultural and Civic Center, 2007 Civic Center Drive. Actors, singers, dancers and musicians of all ages, ethnicities, shapes and sizes are needed for the inaugural production. Bilingual applicants preferred except for dancers.
