400 kids take part in Bartlett fishing derby

The Bartlett Nature Center hosted its annual free youth fishing derby on Saturday, Aug. 7. Over 400 youth registered to fish in the derby held at Beaver Pond.

The nature center would like to thank its partners, the Bartlett Parks Foundation and the Fox River Valley River Muskies for helping make the event possible.

They would also like to thank the following donors/sponsors for the prizes, awards and donations: Cabela's-Hoffman Estates; Patti Hanson-Re/Max Central; Bass Pro Shop, Gurnee Mills; Coleman; The Dogfather; and all the volunteers who helped make this event fun and successful.

Over 500 fish were caught, however, the biggest catch of the day belonged to Lintaro Kajiwara with a 17 1/2 Catfish/Carp.

Other winners in their age group included: Amanda Natali, Taryn Stompolis, Olivia Perrino, Brianna Fanncke, Trevor Delporte, Joe Alderson, Gavin Burseth, Holli Wood, Alli Rys, Haley Erjavac and Jessica Flack in the Catfish/Carp category. Derek Michael, Kailey Dryer, Michael Mascari, Daniel McDonald, Emily Fagan, Arianna Stompolis, Bianca Natali, Taylor Ferrandino, Tessa Lachowcz, Sammy Atkins, Nick Atkan and Vincent B. in the Bluegill/Crappie category. Holli Wood, Isiah Robles, Shawn VanHosen, Anthony Giacobbe, Eric Deguzman, Dylan Wright, Gage Phillips, Kyle Loader, Alyson Nglman, Paige Pala, Austin Wright and Julie Trerno in the Bass category.
