One injured when car strikes tree in Roselle

An Elgin man was injured and flown to an area hospital Wednesday morning after his car struck a tree at the corner of Lake Street and Garden Avenue near Roselle, authorities said.

Dawn Domrose of the DuPage County sheriff's office said Wednesday evening that authorities still don't know what caused the driver, Jonathan Norman of Elgin, to crash.

She said Norman was extricated from the car and taken by helicopter to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. His condition was unavailable Wednesday evening.

Most of Lake Street was shut down for about an hour after the 6 a.m. accident, Domrose said. One lane was closed until about 9 a.m.
