Donations strong for Hatcher's re-election bid in 50th House race

State Rep. Kay Hatcher has spent $67,135 so far this year in her bid to be re-elected to her state House 50th District seat.

The numbers are from the semiannual D-2 campaign finance disclosure report the Friends of Kay Hatcher filed July 19 with the Illinois State Board of Elections.

The report covers Jan. 1 to June 30, 2010. The reports were due July 20.

Friends of Kay Hatcher reported receiving $59,112.74. and spending $67,135.91. The committee started the year with $29,785 in the bank.

Of the contributions, $35,725 was transferred in from political committees; the top donor was the Personal PAC of Chicago, with $3,000. Personal PAC also gave in-kind contributions of $12,416.28, in telephone service, graphic design, printing, postage and "voter contact." The largest in-kind donor was the Health Care Council of Illinois PAC, with $16,559.08.

The bipartisan Personal PAC supports legislators who support abortion access. The Health Care Council represents the interests of the Illinois Health Care Association and the Illinois Council on Long-Term Care.

Hatcher's committee owes Hatcher $35,675.17 for money she has lent it since December 2007.

Of the itemized contributions (donations of $500 or more), the largest amount was from the Associated Beer Distributors of Illinois PAC, which gave $3,000.

Hatcher, a Republican from Yorkville, faces Democrat Linda Healy in November.

As of Thursday afternoon, no D-2 was listed on the election board's website for the Friends of Linda Healy. Committees that received or spent less than $10,000 could file on paper; those above that are required to file electronically. A message seeking comment was left with Healy and her campaign treasurer.
