10-run burst downs Flyers

WINNIPEG, Manitoba - A 10-run eighth inning, punctuated by Justin Justice's go-ahead three-run homer, gave the Winnipeg Goldeyes (29-31) a convincing 12-9 win against the Flyers (22-37) at Canwest Park Sunday.

The Goldeyes scored their 10 runs on eight hits, including home runs by Justice, Wes Long, and Kevin West.

Down 12-5 at that point, t The Flyers battled back in the top of the ninth. With the bases loaded and two outs, Brandon Newton cleared the base paths with a triple down the right field foul line. Travis Brown followed that hit up with a double of his own to score Newton, but that was all Schaumburg would get.

The Flyers open a six game homestand at Alexian Field beginning with the Joliet Jackhammers on Monday night.
