Bulls finish Watson deal, explore McGrady tryout

As expected, the Bulls on Thursday acquired the signed-and-traded contract of guard C.J. Watson from the Golden State Warriors in exchange for a future second-round draft choice.

And according to several reports citing anonymous sources around the NBA, the Bulls are in contact with 6-foot-8 guard/forward Tracy McGrady to bring him here for a workout on Monday.

TNT's David Aldridge has reported that a signing is not imminent, but the Bulls are interested in the seven-time all-star and 31-year-old free-agent forward.

On his Twitter account Wednesday, McGrady wrote that "clippers, bulls, lakers, heat ... but that could change by the morning ... lol ... this is the NBA."

McGrady, who reportedly has recovered from microfracture surgery on his left knee in February 2009, started 24 games for the New York Knicks last season, averaging 9.4 points and 3.4 assists in about 26 minutes per game. McGrady worked out for the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday, with Clippers general manager Neil Olshey saying, "The workout/visit went well" but both sides would continue to explore their options.

While some reports claim the Bulls are not serious about McGrady, others suggest McGrady is serious about the Bulls and coming to Chicago, a city where he had his surgery and spent a lot of time in rehab working out at ATTACK Athletics.

In the deal for Watson, Golden State will receive the lesser of Phoenix's and Utah's regular 2011 second-round draft choices, both of which are held by the Bulls.

Watson (6-feet-2, 175 pounds) comes to the Bulls having played the last three seasons with the Warriors. Last year, the 26-year-old Watson appeared in 65 games (15 starts) and averaged 10.3 ppg, 2.8 apg, 2.6 rpg, 1.58 spg in 27.5 minues per game.
