Street sign dedicated to fallen Chicago cop
Chicago police are honoring a Chicago police officer who was killed in the line of duty last year.
Officials have unveiled a new street sign in memory of Alejandro "Alex" Valadez. The sign is located at the corner of 26th Street and Homan Avenue on Chicago's southwest side.
The 27-year-old was a three-year veteran who worked in the department's 7th District.
He was killed in June last year when he was interviewing a citizen about gunfire with his partner when he was fatally shot.
Two men face charges in Valadez's death. They are being held without bond.
