Boys & Girls Clubs excited by LeBron announcement

ATLANTA -- The Boys & Girls Clubs of America is thanking LeBron James for making the hotly anticipated announcement that he will join the Miami Heat and leave the Cleveland Cavaliers at one of their clubs.

The Atlanta-based organization says the Thursday night announcement, televised from a club in Greenwich, Conn., is expected to generate more than $2.5 million.

The group says the funds could provide needed support for youth programs and the building and refurbishment of vital facilities at local clubs.

ESPN aired James' decision live.

Frank Sanchez, the vice president for corporate and partner relationships for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, says James approached the organization last weekend about using its location for his big show.
