Woman gets 20 years in heroin death case

EAST ST. LOUIS -- A southern Illinois woman has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for distributing heroin that caused a fatal overdose.

Federal prosecutors in East St. Louis on Friday announced the sentence for 26-year-old Jamie E. Day of Jerseyville.

She pleaded guilty in March to distribution of heroin resulting in death.

U.S. Attorney A. Courtney Cox says 23-year-old Kelby Willman of Jerseyvilled died in June 2009 of an overdose of heroin that was supplied by Day.
