Cops searching for Stacy Peterson downstate
Authorities searching for missing suburban Chicago woman Stacy Peterson plan to continue investigating a tip in central Illinois, but the search won't resume on Monday.
Investigators combed a remote muddy area near Peoria on Saturday for the remains of former police officer Drew Peterson's fourth wife. Authorities say they were acting on a tip, but haven't offered further details.
Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Tom Burek says no search is planned on Monday, but he says the lead is still considered active.
Drew Peterson is awaiting trial for the murder of a previous wife. He's pleaded not guilty and is being held at the Will County Jail.
The 56-year-old is a suspect in the disappearance of Stacy Peterson. He's denied wrongdoing.
