If the game turns nasty, Hawks say it's no problem

If the San Jose Sharks want to inject a little more nasty into the series starting Friday night in Game 3, as Scot Nichol suggested, it's fine with Hawks agitator Adam Burish.

"It's fun when you're in guys faces and punching and things like that," Burish said. "That's hockey. Nobody in here is worried about that stuff or getting scared off by that stuff. If that's the path the game takes, fine, we'll play that way."

Sharks defenseman Dan Boyle has challenged his teammates to prove everyone wrong who feel the series is over.

Boyle said Wednesday it was "time for us to raise our collective middle fingers in the air."

"We need that from him," Todd McLellan said.

"We need him to grab some people and take them with him right now."

Hossa tracker: It's still just 2 goals in 13 playoff games for Hawks winger Marian Hossa, but Joel Quenneville continues to be a big backer.

"We expect him to produce, but at the same time we like the way he contributes to our team," Quenneville said. "I think he makes that line (with Patrick Sharp and Troy Brouwer) rock solid in all aspects of the game.

"It's one of those lines where a lot of nights can be the differential in territorial play. The production might not be there, but certainly we like the way they create or control the shift. I still think (Hossa's) a great threat, a great weapon. His productivity is probably waiting to explode."

No show time: The Hawks have talked about playing better on home ice and not being worried about putting on an offensive show for the fans.

It's time to put their money where their mouth is.

"Play it like it's a road game and keep our game simple," Patrick Kane said. "I think when you play simple, it seems like, you know, the show comes, to be honest, with you."

The Hawks are just 3-3 at the United Center in the playoffs compared to 7-1 on the road.

"We haven't been good here or as solid as we would like," Adam Burish said. "Let's feel we don't have to be a fancy team just because the crowd wants pretty goals. Play a simple game and that will allow us to score some goals and have some fun here."
