It's Fremd vs. Barrington - again

Top-seeded Fremd rolled ahead in the Barrington girls water polo sectional semifinals, topping Buffalo Grove 12-1 on Friday to earn a spot in today's 2:45 p.m. sectional title game against the host Fillies.

Barrington, seeded No. 3 in the sectional, topped No. 2 seed Schaumburg 13-9.

The Saxons wrap up their first season under coach Beth Donatucci at 17-8, and coach Shayna Mortensen's Buffalo Grove team finishes at 15-15.

Fremd (29-1) and Barrington (16-7) also met in the sectional championship game last season. The Vikings won, and went on to win the first water polo trophy by a Mid-Suburban League team in the state's Elite Eight.

• At the Vernon Hills sectional, MSL East champ Wheeling (18-7) saw its season come to a close in a 10-9 loss to Stevenson. The Patriots will meet top seed Mundelein in today's 2:30 p.m. title game; the Mustangs eliminated Hersey (19-9) with a 12-3 decision.

• At Glenbrook South, top seed Loyola finished off No. 4 seed Prospect (17-8) with a 17-7 victory. The Ramblers will meet second seed New Trier, which ousted Evanston 9-4.
