Geneva benefit run:The 3rd Annual Feets of Strength 5K Run/Walk for child abuse awareness is at 9 a.m. Sunday, beginning and ending at the Kane County Government Center, 719 S. Batavia Ave., Geneva. Registration is $25 for the run or walk, $10 for the Youth race, and $5 for the Little Feets Dash. For more information or to register go to signmeupsports.com or e-mail feetsofstrength@att.net. All proceeds will benefit Royal Family Kids Camp for abused and neglected children.Book exchange in DeKalb:Readers of all ages are invited to participate in a book exchange from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at St. Mary Catholic School, 210 Gurler Road, DeKalb. Admission is $5 and there is no limit on the number of books that can be traded in. The book exchange will take place in the school's cafeteria where books will be accepted, sorted, and placed on tables according to genre. Call (815) 895-0540.Aurora testing hydrants:The Aurora Fire Department is flow-testing hydrants through June 30 to assure the hydrants have the required water flow and will operate properly in the event of an emergency. Since the testing might produce rusty water capable of staining clothes, officials are asking residents to refrain from doing laundry between 8 a.m. and noon Mondays through Thursdays when the testing will be conducted. Roughly one-third of the city's hydrants will be tested. The parade will step off from the Dave Werdin Community Center, 2S101 Harter Road, after a program featuring guest speaker and Iraq war veteran Evan Mahan and local folk singer Lee Murdock. Special seating is available to veterans, who also will be recognized. The parade ends with a rifle salute and grave decorations at Kaneville Cemetery on Main Street. In addition, the American Legion will be collecting old flags to be retired. For more information, call (630) 992-2215.Festival honors military:Eleven Swedish Days food vendors will offer free meals to military personnel in uniform from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 27. Booths will be marked, and also listed in a brochure. The parade that afternoon will salute the military.
