Flavoring-company explosion in Geneva hurts one
An explosion in a mixing room hurt an employee and damaged a wall and equipment Wednesday evening at FONA International, 1900 Averill Road, Geneva, according to fire department officials.
Geneva rescue crews were called to the facility at 9:15 p.m.
The worker was taken to Delnor Hospital in Geneva for treatment of minor injuries, according to the fire department.
FONA - which stands for Flavors of North America - opened the building in 2005. It develops and manufactures flavorings.
Fire officials believe the explosion was accidental, caused during the manufacturing process.
