Antioch's winning streak snapped at 14

Elk Grove 8, Antioch 2: After sweeping a doubleheader from defending state champ Loyola on Friday night to extend their winning streak to 14 games, the Sequoits traveled south again Saturday.

This time the trip wasn't as fruitful, as they surrendered 3 unearned runs in a loss to the Mid-Suburban League power.

Jessica Ploss, who hit a grand slam against Loyola, homered for the second day in a row. Her 2-run shot in the seventh accounted for the Sequoits' lone runs.

Olivia Duehr pitched 4 innings, allowing 3 runs (1 earned). She struck out five and walked five, as Antioch fell to 19-5.

On Friday night, Antioch won 7-4 and 12-1, despite playing without center fielder Samie Seamon and second baseman Jess Liszka due to injuries.

In Game 1, Allie Anttila went 2-for-4, and Duehr helped her own cause with a 2-run single. Anttila and Lauren Moore got the scoring started in the second with back-to-back doubles.

Game 2 featured home runs from Ploss, Duehr and Sam Kozenski. Amber Mysliwiec went 3-for-3, while Bailan Reynolds, Moore and Cat Dinklenburg (double) each had 2 hits. Kozenski pitched all 6 innings for the win, striking out eight and walking two. The 1 run she allowed was unearned.

Libertyville sweeps Burlington Central: The Wildcats pounded out 33 hits in a beating the host school 6-3 and 22-0.

In Game 1, with Libertyville trailing 3-2 to start the seventh inning, Andi Grant led off with a single and the Wildcats went on to score 4 runs.

Danielle Kaczmar was 3-for-4 with a double, RBI and 2 runs scored, while icole Kruckman went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI. Mandy Vogg finished 2-for-3. Calley Kaluzny earned the win.

Libertyville (10-17) opened Game 2 by scoring 14 runs in the first inning.

Kruckman capped a hot week at the plate by going 5-for-6 with a triple and 4 runs scored. Athena Cocallas was 4-for-6 and also scored four times. Samantha Bone and Erika Teitz both went 3-for-4 with 2 runs scored. Kaczmar was 3-for-6 and scored twice. Grant was the winner.
