Learn about drug abuseStevenson, Buffalo Grove, Libertyville and Vernon Hills high schools are sponsoring a community symposium about the dangers of teenage substance abuse on Tuesday, May 11. The event, called "Partying? My Kid?" will run from 7 to 9 p.m. at Stevenson's performing arts center. The school is on Route 22, west of Milwaukee Avenue. The event will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at the Hilton Garden Inn, 26225 N. River Woods Blvd., Lake Forest. There will be an Elvis performance with an ice cream social, and a sock hop with hula hoop and limbo contests. Admission is $5 for adults; children under 12 are free. At 2 p.m., there will be a Miss Hope pageant open to women and girls of all ages competing in formal and '50s wear for $40.
