Lysacek's footwork finally pleases 'DWTS' judges

He finally got the footwork right!

Naperville's Olympic figure skating hero Evan Lysacek pleased the "Dancing With The Stars" judges during double points night Monday on the ABC-TV show, and he and partner Anna Trebunskaya received 26 of a possible 30 points on both technique and performance for their Tango - the best score of the evening.

Though Lysacek and Trebunskaya were in first place after last week's performance, judges had been critical of the skater's footwork. There was a big improvement Monday.

Judge Len Goodman said he was watching Lysacek's feet closely during the Viennese crosses. "You nailed that," the sometimes-crotchety Goodman said.

Judge Bruno Tonioli called the performance "strong, powerful, with a hint of catlike arrogance."

From judge Carrie Ann Inaba: "A perfect blend of artistry and technique."

Lysacek remained in first, followed by Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger in second and "Baywatch" babe Pam Anderson in third.

The judges' lowest scores of the night went to soap opera star Aiden Turner and the stressed-out Kate Gosselin, who drew praise for making a big improvement, despite her lack of talent.
