With Castro out, Sox satisfied with Lucy as backup

Eligible to come off the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, reserve catcher Ramon Castro (bruised right heel) has had a setback and is out indefinitely, according to manager Ozzie Guillen.

"Every time he tries to do baseball activity he backs down a little bit," Guillen said. "What I hear from Hermie (trainer Herm Schneider) is they're going to shut him down a few days and continue treatment and see what happens."

Guillen doesn't feel there is much drop-off with Donny Lucy backing up A.J. Pierzynski. In his only start of the season, Friday against Minnesota, Lucy was 1-for-2 before Pierzynski came on as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning.

"He's had good at-bats and handled the pitching staff very well," Guillen said of Lucy. "The reason we brought him here was because we feel comfortable with him. The pitching staff loves throwing to him and the players like him."

Back on Line: Scott Linebrink is feeling much better about himself after entering Saturday's game against the Twins in the eighth inning with the bases loaded and no outs.

Linebrink retired three straight hitters without allowing a run and also pitched a scoreless ninth.

"It did feel good," said Linebrink, who walked two of the three Minnesota hitters he faced Friday. "I really felt like the day before kind of sat on my shoulders, not being able to get through that seventh inning. Knowing the bullpen was taxed and we had to use two more guys in that inning, it felt good to pick those guys up."

Rios returns: Alex Rios wound up joining the White Sox last August after he was placed on waivers by the Blue Jays.

Nonetheless, the outfielder is looking forward to returning to Toronto on Monday.

"It's going to be exciting," said Rios, who broke in with the Jays in 2004. "That's the place where I grew up as a player, as a major-league player. I guess I'm going to have a good time. I thought I was going to stay there, but it's part of the game."

Rios still is trying to live down a YouTube video taken last June. After going 0-for-5 with 5 strikeouts in a game at Rogers Centre, he refused to sign autographs and wound up in a profanity-laced argument with a fan.

"Yeah, I've seen it," Rios said. "I did something and it's in the past now. It happened and it was bad."

White Sox return: After a 2-4 opening homestand, the Sox travel to Toronto for a four-game series against the Blue Jays.

Since beating the Jays at Rogers Centre on June 1, 2007, the White Sox have lost 10 straight in Toronto. They were swept in a four-game series last season while being outscored 21-8.

"I like Toronto," manager Ozzie Guillen said. "I don't like when we go on the field and they kick our butts every day. I know the Toronto Blue Jays are not going to hire Ozzie Guillen as their manager. When we play there, there's a lot of weird things that happen."
