Casino trips from Elburn

The Elburn Seniors Club is sponsoring a trip to the Isle of Capri Casino in Bettendorf, Iowa, on April 20. The $35 fee includes bus fare, lunch and $5 for play. Reservations and money are due by Monday. The group is also sponsoring a trip to Wild Rose Casino in Clinton, Iowa, May 4. Cost is $30 and includes transportation and lunch. Lee Murdock performs

The Geneva History Center, 113 S. Third St., welcomes folk musician Lee Murdock at 2 p.m. April 11. He will share songs and stories of the Great Lakes. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for Geneva History Center members and students. Call (630) 232-4951.

Gardening the 1890s way

Visitors can learn how to grow the kinds of vegetables and herbs that would have been found at an 1890s farm during the "Heirloom-Gardening Class" April 17 at Kline Creek Farm, 1N600 County Farm Road, near West Chicago. Sale supports fireworks

The Batavia Fireworks Committee's City-Wide Garage Sale is April 30 and May 1. Sellers who wish to have their location on the official map and advertisint materials can do so for $30. The deadline to sign up is 5 p.m. April 23. Proceeds from the fee pay for the Fourth of July fireworks show. Additional information and an entry form are available at

Applications are available for the Granquist Music Competition, to be held June 26 in Geneva.
