Central DuPage Hospital sells senior community

Central DuPage Hospital announced Friday that it has sold Wyndemere Senior Living Community in Wheaton.

Life Care Services LLC of Des Moines, Iowa, acquired the senior three aspects of the community that include Westbridge, an assisted living community; Wynscape, a full-service nursing and rehabilitation center and Wyndemere, independent living apartments and townhouses. The sale price was not disclosed.

"We were looking for an organization to run the community that specializes in senior living," said Amy Jo Steinbruecker, spokeswoman at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. Life Care Services has nearly 40 years of experience in owning and managing senior living communities and serves more than 23,000 residents in 28 states.

Wyndemere, which opened 18 years ago, houses about 425 residents and employs nearly 400 people. The employees will remain the same at the center where Erin Donaldson, an employee of LCS, will serve as executive director.

The residents will not notice a change in the way the facility is run, Steinbruecker said. "Life Care Services will run things the same way," she added. The takeover process has taken about a year so that the transition would be slow.

As part of the transition, the hospital and the new owner will jointly make a $2 million capital investment at the 22-acre Wyndemere campus. The details of the improvements were not released Friday. Wyndemere, at 200 Wyndemere Circle, is a nationally accredited community.
