Events that raise money for some type of charity, including galas, golf outings, shopping events, charity auctions, etc. Deadline is two weeks before event date.

Feb. 3

Sustainable Living Night: 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, Byron Colby Barn, 1561 Jones Point Road, Grayslake. Incinerator-Free Lake County will host an educational and entertaining fundraiser featuring Dr. Neil Seldman, president of the Institute for Local Self-Reliance, along with additional speakers, music, snacks and drinks. Feb. 5

Improv challenge: 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, Warren Township High School Almond Campus cafeteria, 34090 Almond Road, Gurnee. Student improv group "Giggles 'n Bits" will take on faculty team "Adequate Yearly Progress." Tickets will be sold at the door for $3 each. Ticket sales will help raise money for a new light board for theater productions.

Feb. 6

Wii Bowling Tournament: Noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, Mundelein Park District Regent Center, 1200 Regent Drive, Mundelein. The Mundelein Park District will hold a Nintendo Wii Bowling tournament and scholarship fundraiser for adults ages 40 and older. Cost is $10 with advance registration ($15 with controller provided). Walk-ins are also welcome. A portion of proceeds from all registrations will go toward the Mundelein Parks Foundation which provides scholarships to area residents for park district programs. Chess Without Borders: 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, Barbara Rose Elementary School, 61 W. Penny Road, Barrington. Haiti fundraiser: 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Saturday, Feb. 6, Scott Dogs Grill and Catering, 895 E. Grand Ave., Lake Villa. Ten percent of all hot dog sales will be donated through the Red Cross to help earthquake victims in Haiti.

The Downhome Sophisticates will perform a pre-Valentine's Day concert to raise funds for Prairie Crossing Charter School. Feb. 13

Valentine Pancake Breakfast: 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Feb. 13, American Legion Lake Region Post 703 Hall, 703 N. Route 12, Fox Lake. The 10th District members of the American Legion Auxiliary offer all-you-can-eat pancakes, biscuits and gravy, sausage patties, and beverages for a $6 per person donation. Children 5 and under are free. A Sweetheart Raffle will also be held.

St. Baldrick's fundraiser: 3 p.m. Saturday, March 6, Jerseys Pizza & Grill, 2360 Lakewood Boulevard, Hoffman Estates. To raise money for children's cancer research. There will be raffles for prizes including tickets to the Chicago Rush season opener, concert tickets, authentic Patrick Kane jersey, and more. National Junior Disability Championships fundraiser: For the entire month of February, Wheeling Auto Center, 2430 E. Hintz Road, Arlington Heights, will donate $5 from every oil change and $25 for every referral to NJDC, a national competition for young people with physical disabilities and visual impairments. It Can Be Done: Mondays and Tuesdays, Francesca's Intimo, 293 E Illinois Road, Lake Forest. Francesca's Intimo has agreed to donate 15 percent of patrons' bills to the nonprofit organization It Can Be Done! on Mondays and Tuesdays if the customer mentions the organization to a restaurant employee. The proceeds will benefit the purchasing of a drill to construct wells throughout the 12 villages of Uru on Mount Kilimanjaro, providing the 30,000 people living there with freshwater. Our House of Hope donations: Our House of Hope K-9 Rescue has set up accounts at Green Tree Animal Hospital, 1165 S. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville, and Shear Paradise Pet Salon, 408 N. Seymour Ave., Mundelein. Donations at either location may be made to the accounts to provide care for the organization's animals.
