Grayslake attorney gets edge in 6th subcircuit

Grayslake attorney Michael Perillo easily defeated Antioch attorney Edward Abderholden in Tuesday's Democratic primary contest for circuit judge in the 6th Judicial Subcircuit. With all 104 Lake County precincts counted, unofficial totals showed Perillo received 2,790 votes or 69 percent, to Abderholden's 1,267 votes and 31 percent.

Perillo will square off in the November general election against Circuit Judge Jorge Ortiz, who ran unopposed in the Republican primary. Perillo said he wants a more transparent system of appointing associate judges to be developed in the county. He also supports continuing the ban on cameras in the courtroom. Perillo began his legal career in the Navy and served as a Lake County public defender and assistant state's attorney before going into private practice.
