Cook County Circuit Court Judge Aurelia Pucinski appears poised to win the Democratic primary for the Illinois Appellate Court's First District.

With 94 percent of precincts reporting, Pucinski had 36 percent of the vote, compared to 31 percent for Thomas L. Hogan, 20 percent for Pamela Hill-Veal, 9 percent for Frank Edward Gardner and 4 percent for Don R. Sampen.

The former clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County and a former Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Commissioner cited as her key issues finding ways to make the appellate court process faster and more affordable and ways to make court decisions easier to understand.
