Candidate Forums

• The Elgin Area League of Women Voters will hold a candidates forum at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, at the Gail Borden Public Library in Elgin. Contested Kane County office candidates have been invited to speak as well as 16th Circuit judge candidates. The public can submit questions.

• Five of the Republican candidates for governor will gather from 8-10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, at the Tooling and Manufacturing Association, 1177 S. Dee Road in Park Ridge for a candidates forum.

Adam Amdrzejewski, Bill Brady, Kirk Dillard, Dan Proft and Bob Schillerstrom will each begin with an opening statement, and then the floor will be open for questions.

• The League of Women Voters of the Palatine area will hold a candidate forum from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 16, at the Palatine Village Hall Chambers, 200 E. Wood St., for candidates in the Republican primary for the 54th Legislative District and the 8th Congressional District. • The League of Women Voters of Lake County and the Daily Herald are hosting a debate featuring the candidates vying for the state House District 59 seat in the Feb. 2 primary. The event will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 17, at the Laschen Community Center, 294 Evergreen Drive, Vernon Hills. Democrats state Rep. Carol Sente and Buffalo Grove Village President Elliott Harstein will be there along with Republicans Mohan Manian, Cynthia Hebda and Dan Sugrue. Candidates for judge in the appellate court, and 19th Circuit Court, will present their qualifications, but will not participate in a formal question period.

• Democratic candidates for the DuPage County Forest Preserve Commission in District 4, Eric Bergman and Don Kirchenberg, debate during a candidate forum at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, at the Glenside Public Library, 25 E. Fullerton, Glendale Heights. Other Democratic candidates attending the forum include Tom Wendorf, DuPage County Board District 4; Carol Chaney, DuPage County Board chairman; Dennis Clark, DuPage County Forest Preserve District president; Jim Haggerty, state representative District 45; Michelle Mussman, state representative District 56; Corinne Pierog, Illinois Senate District 23; and Ben Lowe, U.S.House District 6.
