State police probe fatal crash in Bolingbrook

Illinois State Police continue to investigate the cause of a one-vehicle crash Monday that claimed the life of a Chicago man on I-55 near Route 53 in Bolingbrook, authorities said Tuesday.

Police said James Santore, 89, was driving south about 11:15 a.m. when his vehicle left the road, entered a ditch and then struck a concrete base and guardrail.

Santore was extricated from the vehicle and taken by helicopter to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove where he was pronounced dead at 3:14 p.m.

Police said they're continuing to reconstruct the accident and conducting tests that may help determine the cause.
