"It's not too early to start planning for next season's crops," said University of Illinois Extension local food systems and small farms educator Chris Konieczka.

Using transplants is an effective way to produce quality crop plants early in the season, standardize germination, and compete with weeds.

Join Konieczka and Dixon Springs Agricultural Research Center horticulture specialist Jeff Kindhart for an informative webinar on successful transplant production.

The webinar is free and can be accessed via Elluminate from a home Internet connection.

It will be held live on Wednesday, Dec. 12, from 1:30 to 3 p.m.

The presenters will discuss planting media, crop planning, dealing with environmental factors (such as temperature and moisture), and planting out successful transplants.

Participate by listening and bringing your own questions to ask after the presentation. An archived version will be available after the live program.

A link to the presentation will be provided with the program registration.
