North Aurora rolls out carpet for 'Holiday Happenings this weekend

Join in "Holiday Happenings," a series of family-oriented events taking place around North Aurora during the first weekend in December. Several local organizations will be hosting events throughout the weekend.

On Saturday, Dec. 1, the North Aurora Lions Club will host its "Pancake Breakfast with Santa" from 9 a.m. to noon at the North Aurora Activity Center, 1 N. Lincolnway, North Aurora. Enjoy a pancake breakfast and visit Santa Claus. For details, visit Facebook/NALionsClub.

On Sunday, Dec. 2, Messenger Public Library, 113 Oak St., North Aurora, will hold a Holiday Open House from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Visit with Santa Claus, make a holiday craft, enjoy a strolling barbershop quartet and refreshments. For details, visit northaurora.lib.il.us.

Also on Sunday, the North Aurora Beautification Committee will hold the Slaker Tree Decorating & Lighting at 3 p.m. at North Aurora Island Park. Local youth and Girl Scouts decorate the Slaker Tree with animal friendly ornaments and sing carols.

The North Aurora River District Alliance has announced the second annual "Evergreen Holidays," held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2. It was started by NOARDA to showcase the riverfront during the holiday season. This year, thanks to generous sponsors, there will be 26 decorated Christmas trees lining the paths within Riverfront Park, just west of village hall, 25 E. State St., North Aurora.

The North Aurora Mother's Club will host a cookie walk and providing packets of "reindeer food." The North Aurora Lions Club will be providing hot chocolate and treats.
