Rolling Meadows High School student charged in connection with knife threat
An 18-year-old Rolling Meadows High School student faces two felony charges after he was accused of threatening to harm others with a knife, authorities said.
Carlos Barrera, 18, of Arlington Heights, is charged with one felony count of disorderly conduct and another felony count of unlawful possession of a weapon, Rolling Meadows police said.
Police said he remains in the custody of the Cook County Sheriff.
The charges stem from a May 20 incident at the high school.
Police officers responded to the school at 7:20 p.m. after receiving a report of a student who made a verbal threat to harm others with a knife, according to a news release from the Rolling Meadows Police Department.
Officers located and detained the student, who had two knives, police said.
The student didn’t display the knives during the incident, police said, and no students or staff members were harmed.
